STORY OF GANESHA AS SCRIBE FOR VYASA

STORY OF GANESHA AS SCRIBE FOR VYASA

Ganesha has agreed to be the scribe for Vyasa when the Mahabharat was dictated to him. In doing so, he set a condition to Vyasa that he ( Vyasa ) should dictate continuously and he agreed. Vyasa in turn set his own condition to Ganesha that he ( Ganesha ) should understand the schlokas before writing them down. During the writing the pen broke and Ganesha without stopping broke off one tusk and use it as a pen. A very interesting story.

ONE INTERPRETATION ( there are others )
Any person writing a poem, an essay, an article etc. would have divided the mind into two parts. These are the " dictating mind " and the " mind that tells the hand what to write." It is like saying that part of the mind is Vyasa and the other part is Ganesha. If the dictating mind is too fast for the hand there will be mistakes and if the writing mind is too fast for the dictating mind there will be mistakes. As the story indicates, we must understand what we want to write before doing so. Your thoughts!!!!
